How do I setup my email account in thunderbird?

Need to get your email account setup in thunderbird? Let me show you how it’s done.
1

In thunderbird go to File > New > Existing Mail Account

2
  • Your Name: Put in your name
  • Email Address Put in the full email address
  • Password: Put in the password you set for the email account when you created it
  • Click Continue
3

Now you can choose IMAP or pop3. With IMAP emails are stored on the server with pop3 they are downloaded to your computer. I normally use pop3 on my computer but it’s up to you. Either one will work just fine.

The username is incorrect so click Manual config so we can fix that.

4

Type in the full email address for the username.

By default SSL is set to starttls. This is the recommended setting.

Then click done.

5

The first time you check mail with the new account you’ll get a scary security warning. This is caused by the ssl setting above. Since this is a shared server the email server can’t have a SSL certificate for your domain name. As a result you get this error message. But it’ll still use SSL and will still be a secure.

Make sure “permanently store this exception” is checked and click confirm security exception.

Your email account should be setup and working. If you have any problems at all comment below or contact support and we’ll help you get it going.
