1- A Domain that is easy to remember. Try to pick a domain that is simple to remember and has very few misspellings. Also, You don’t want a very lengthy domain. This can add to misspelling and 404 pages when the domain the client types in goes no where.
2 – Try to pick a domain that has your business name included. If you are running a bed a breakfast named Oceanside Bed & Breakfast try to obtain a domain that has all or some of your business name included. In this example you would want oceansidebedandbreakfast.com or something that abbreviates your business name such as oceansidebb.com This way when clients see your domain they will associate it with your business.
3- Pick a Domain That Includes Keywords. Again, if you had a bed and breakfast business you would want to use some of the keywords for your business in your domain. So, you would may want to start with the keyword “breakfast” or “b&b” and have this in your domain.
4- Make Your Domain Unique. Having domain that is close to a big brand name can be a big mistake. If you sold apples you would not want to get a domain close to apple.com as all traffic would expect to see Ipads and latest tech gadgets by the apple company. So pick a domain that defines your business but sets you apart from your competitors and big brands.
5- Stay with a .com Domain Although other extensions are popular and can be put to good use, .com domains are used the most for brand recognition. Most clients automatically search and assume there is a .com website for the business name.
